I recenly took my car to Big O for a safety check because I was about togo on a 5-hour road trip.. They said they would do it for free which they did and which I really appreciated. When they were done, I asked them to go over with me what they looked at. They told me what they did, including looking at the wiper blades which they said were fine. While I was on my trip it rained and I discovered immediately that one of the blades was torn. I went back to the shop when I got back to let them know about this. A mechanic looked at the blade and immediately saw the problem. I also spoke with a manager. No apology, no concern that they made a mistake. They only made excuses for why it may have happened. This may seem like a small thing but when I trusted this shop to identify any safety issues. I have used Big O services in orger location and have always been happy with them. But I'll never go back to rhis shop.
It takes an incredibly long time, and if you don’t have a ride, you’ll be waiting for 4+ hours, even with an appointment. They told me they couldn’t correctly align my car because I needed new tires. They still charged me the total price for the alignment. I bought the tires from them with a warranty, and since the warranty was still good, I tried to get them replaced. However, I was told my warranty was voided, and they would not honor it. After a call to Big O corporate, I was informed my warranty was still valid. I felt unsafe returning it to Big O, so I was told to come to Discount Tire in Las Cruces to honor my warranty. At Discount Tire, I was informed that the alignment they told me was done, albeit not correctly, was never done. They’ve also forgotten to return multiple things, including a spare tire and a hubcap.
For decades I have avoided Big-O because a certain shop raked me over the coals. But serendipity brought me to this store, and they are amazing. My front end on my RV broke down in the Gila Wilderness. I was able to drive down into Silver City and park it in the Big-O lot on a Friday. They were so busy that they could not schedule me till Monday morning. It was the same with all the other shops in town, or even later. They were kind enough to let me camp in their huge parking lot. Long story short, the upper passenger control arm was chewed up by the ball joint and no new replacements were available anywhere. Ted the head Sales person found a used one, and it was delivered by the end of Monday. Tuesday afternoon I was back on the road thanks to Bill the talented front end mechanic. I was charged a very fair price of $400, when they too could have easily raked me over the coals. Since I had to hangout and wait for a few days, I saw how hard they all worked, and how well they treated their customers. This place is top notch and if I lived in Silver City they would be my shop of choice.
After taking my truck to Big O in Albuquerque to get it aligned, tires balanced and rotated I took it here because they made it worse (ABQ). The Silver City store made it so bad I could barely drive the truck. I called and the just told me I needed new tires - they're only 6 months old and a decent brand. Ended up going to Werner tire and they fixed the off balance tires. The staff at Big O were pleasant, but unfortunately the tech that worked on my truck didn't know what he was doing 🤷
The best Big O there is! Ted and Ryan, and their team, always take the best care of my vehicle. They're constantly busy - a GREAT sign - so there's usually a decent wait, but it's worth it every time! I never leave unsatisfied with the interactions I have, nor with the work done on my car.
As far as the recent review concerning Big O "not liking white people" - that is false information. As a white person, I have never experienced any sort of discrimination here, and newsflash - there are white people that work at Big O, as well. Please disregard that asinine remark, and trust the Silver City Big O for all your vehicle needs.
